Ditch Everything (and Everyone) That Brings You Down

Learning Objective: Bring joy back to your activities and relationships

How much time are you spending on tasks (and people) that don’t feed your soul and bring you happiness?

We all have that one friend who stresses us or that one client who pushes all the wrong buttons.

Add to that the chores we dread, and it’s a recipe for unhappiness and frustration.

But these necessary-but-deadly-dull-or-stressful tasks can hold you back and affect your mindset in more ways than just mere inconvenience.

Count Your Blessings

Learning Objective: Make gratitude easy – even when times are tough

We all have plenty to be thankful for, but it’s pretty easy to forget the little things in the midst of the day-to-day life and business drama.

When we are doing something new, it’s easy to focus on that endeavour (plus all the problems and complexities in mastering it). Before you know it, you become problem-oriented instead of blessings-oriented.

Time to take back the blessings!

Be Enthusiastically Authentic

Learning Objective: Loving the real you and letting her shine out

Nothing is more draining than trying to be something you’re not. If you’re forcing yourself to fit into an unrealistic “image” of a coach just because you think that’s what your clients expect, you’re going to burn out fast.

Instead, embrace the real you. Your clients will love you for it.

Who Are You?

Think of your favourite coaches and experts in related fields. Who are they? Why do you like them? What makes them stand out in your mind from other experts? What resonates with you? These are the questions you need to answer before you start digging deep to find the authentic you.

  • People who share the same values
  • People who have similar problems
  • People who share similar goals
  • People who think like you
  • People who talk like you
  • People you just like

Think of your favourite coaches and experts in related fields. Who are they? Why do you like them? What makes them stand out in your mind from other experts? What resonates with you? These are the questions you need to answer before you start digging deep to find the authentic you.

But who you like and why you like them is just one small part of the puzzle. The real problem with tapping into the authentic ‘You’ is deciding just which parts of your life you want to share.

Yes. You can share all of yourself … or just parts, a professional persona.

A professional persona shares only those parts of her life and personality that are relevant to her ideal client and business. But what does ‘relevant’ really mean?

It means:

  • People who share the same values
  • People who have similar problems
  • People who share similar goals
  • People who think like you
  • People who talk like you
  • People you just like

And exactly what is relevant to you? What burning mission do you have? What would you want people to say about you at your funeral? (Okay, that’s a little alarming, I know: But seriously … what sort of legacy do you want to leave? How will you leave the world a better place?

Your ideal client is one who can really identify with you. She has the same struggles you’ve dealt with, only you’re several steps ahead of her, and can help her over those tricky rocks. Show her your shortcuts. Give her a boost over the trickiest parts. Share your secrets.

What people are looking for, even in business, are relationships they can trust. They want to trust someone: There’s so much misinformation flying at them every day – even just so much information – that they need to follow someone who never leaves them stranded. Someone who understands them – and someone they understand too.

So, find out what your purpose is. Find out your mission. Make it something that is easy for you – not necessarily ‘easy’, but easy for you to perform and share.

That’s what will make you stand out and be noticed. Sharing and genuinely helping are what will make people trust you. Being consistent and helping them get to the next level will create loyal customers and clients. After only one or two purchases, they will start investing in your programs and packages eagerly because they know they’ll receive wonderful value for their investment:

  • Tools that work
  • Strategies they can successfully implement
  • Milestones indicating actual progress and forward movement
  • Support

All of these won’t be seen unless you have a consistent, strong identity – either branding yourself, your program or your coaching.

But whatever areas of your life and personality you choose to share, it will work best combined with your authentic purpose and mission. An authentic you.

Build A Business You Can Love Again

Learning Objective: Give your business a makeover that excites you

Over time, if you’re not diligent, you may find that your business has morphed into something you never envisioned. You’re working with less-than-ideal clients (because you thought you needed the money) and your packages and programs don’t excite you anymore.

In this module, we’re going to identify what you need to do differently in order to love your business again.
